Stylin' & Profiling// Jacqueline Westman Designer of JAWline

Name: Jacqueline Westman

Profession: Fashion Designer

Favorite Color: To be vague... Purple. And accent on anything/everything...Rose Gold Least

Favorite Color: I’ve learned to appreciate them all.

Style Description:“The Fashionista” mixed with “The Classic.” I love to dress up! But have an easy way about dressing. I take what’s in my closet and incorporate the latest trends so to speak. I know how to spend my money and make my look appear expensive. It’s all about taking what you have and making it look better with a little new touch here and there. Even a new lip shade can do the trick! I love having a good mix in my closet of “high” and “low” designers as well as price points. I think it’s important too. And, always include pop colors but never get rid of the neutrals. But don’t get me a wrong, I’m a Texas girl and at the end of the day not afraid to rock my Pat Green tee’s, blue jeans and Ariat boots if needed! ;)

Style Icon: Jackie-O, Kate Moss, Leandra Medine & Chiara Ferragni to name a few

Favorite Designers/Brands: Can’t get enough of Rag & Bone. ALEXIS. Parker will always be my go to for Dresses and OF course, Isabel Marant. Rosie Assoulin has been a designer obsession of mine for quite some time. If I can wear her beauty day and night I would.

Least Favorite Designers/Brands: It’s hard to pin point directly designers or brands I am not a fan of. It takes so much blood, sweat and tears to make a simple t-shirt or tank top. I know what is needed to create each piece so I have to recognize that there was someone who at the end of the day spent their time, hard work and energy in making that garment. After watching “True Cost” the movie earlier this year, it really impacted the way I shop and the way I want to shop.

Favorite Shoe Style: Stiletto... Sophia Webster.

Least Favorite Shoe Style: Crocs? I don’t think you’ll ever see me in a pair.

What You Love to Wear: resses! They are effortless, feminine and sexy! Dresses adapt to your body, they almost tell a story all on their own. And, then of course when you add your personal flair they come to life on a whole other level. Dresses make you
feel like a woman, they empower you! You can pretty much conquer the world in a dress!

What You Hate to Wear: Clothes that are not flattering and itchy.

What You are Afraid to Wear: would have to say the biggest thing trending right now! Crop Tops!! Hahah, I have realized I do not have a flat enough stomach to pull them off. And, I’m ok with that! ;) The shortest length you’ll see me in is 20” maybe even 21”.

What is Work Appropriate/Your Typical Workplace Attire: I think it obviously depends on the position, place and title. Whether you’re in a working environment of 2 employees or 500, you are ALWAYS in the spotlight. And, you may not think you’re being noticed or will be noticed but trust me, you are! First impression is KEY. If you’re having a big presentation of some sort it’s probably not a good idea to wear a see through chiffon top or that new mini skirt you bought over the summer. It doesn’t matter how cute you look or edgy, you’re distracting what matters! And, at the end of the day you want to leave your audience with an impression of your skills not the lacey undergarments that were peaking out.

My typical workplace attire consists of my mood that morning! Ha! The weather definitely always seems to factor in as well. But, at the end of the day I need to look “presentable.” I never know who I will run into or randomly be asked to join a meeting. You can never go wrong with a great dress and some booties, an easy scarf and leather jacket. I love wearing my skinnies or flares back to a big dramatic top or white tee and a fierce stiletto.

Do You Like to Accessorize (Jewelry, Scarves, etc.)? Minimal. I always feel like my shoes tend to steal the show... I do believe in a good statement ring or necklace. But it has to be one or the other. I love wrap bracelets and a good solid metal band.

Favorite Stores/Boutiques: I shop high and I shop low. I have tons of my “little stores” along the coast from Los Angeles down to the OC. Madison, Satine, Fred Segal to Isabella’s Cabinet and No Rest for Bridget. Every NYC trip I have to step into Bergdorf’s, Big Drop, Wink, Scoop and Opening Ceremony.

Style/Fashion Tips and/or Advice: Always stay true to yourself. I understand the generation we live in now, it’s easy to get wrapped up in social media and what’s happening elsewhere. Style bloggers are style bloggers because they stick out on their own. They all may come off so similar but at the end of the day they are really all SO different. It’s important to create your own style and stick with it. Yes, you can be inspired by others but incorporate it and make it yours.

“Fashion is Beauty, Set Yourself Apart.” - quote from ‘JAWline’

I also think it’s important to embrace your size. If you are really a size 4, then you shouldn’t try and squeeze into a 0 or XS. Our bodies are always changing and will continue. Live with it, it’s part of being a woman!

Stylish Aspirations: My beautiful Grandma COCO.  At the age of 86, a fierce leopard print and shiny rouge lipstick is still her staple.  COCO, is the epitome of a classic beauty and will always be the most glamorous woman I know.  Her poise, her expressions and her taste in fashion is absolutely... timeless!
