Stylin' & Profiling: Jacqueline Perlman of My Favorite Outfit
Name: Jacqueline Perlman
Profession: Founder and CEO of My Favorite Outfit; Student at Kellogg School of Management
Favorite Color: Green
Least Favorite Color: Purple
Style Description: Classic with a trendy twist.
Style Icon: I don’t have one style icon, instead I try and pull inspiration from people around me and more recently, bloggers. If a piece or a trend that someone is wearing stands out, then I’ll look to incorporate it into my own wardrobe.
Favorite Designers/Brands: Sandro, Frame Denim, Red Valentino, Rag and Bone, and Marine Layer – I love how soft their t-shirts are.
Least Favorite Designers/Brands: Every designer and brand has something great to offer, even if it doesn’t fit my own personal style. The large variety and creativity that goes into fashion is what makes it fun.
Favorite Shoe Style: Booties for life! Booties are incredibly versatile. I have a pair of Stuart Weitzman black booties with studs that I wear every single day.
Least Favorite Shoe Style: I just don’t understand kitten heels.
What You Love to Wear: My daily uniform consists of jeans, a comfortable sweater (I’ve been wearing an evergreen Equipment pullover on repeat lately), booties, and a simple black leather satchel that my boyfriend picked out at a small shop in Vietnam. When night rolls around, I’m on a never-ending hunt for the perfect pair of pajamas. I’ve found that Eberjey never disappoints.
What You Hate to Wear: I don’t like to wear form-fitting clothing.
What You are Afraid to Wear: Form-fitting clothing! I’m afraid it will be too tight and too revealing.
What is Work Appropriate/Your Typical Workplace Attire: My work attire is very casual. On a typical day I’ll be wearing jeans, a casual top, and the booties I mentioned above.
Do You Like to Accessorize (Jewelry, Scarves, etc.)? I keep my accessories very minimal. It’s rare that you’ll find me adorning anything more than a pair of stud earrings and a simple gold necklace.
Favorite Stores/Boutiques: There are a lot of exciting disruptions happening in the fashion world by companies like M. Gemi, Everlane, and Cuyana who are focusing on quality over quantity and radical transparent pricing strategies. I am beginning to shop more from brands like those; however, my go-to will always be Shopbop.
Style/Fashion Tips and/or Advice: Only buy something if you love it.
Stylish Aspirations: It would be nice to look effortlessly put-together everyday.
Winter Style Must-Have: Suede over-the-knee boots. I always find it difficult to wear dresses in the winter because I don’t like the fuss of wearing tights. If you find over-the-knee boots that are high enough to meet the hem of your dress, then tights are no longer necessary.
